As you leave vendor row, you will probably venture into the amateur pits. Don’t be scared, these guys are just like you and your buddies. They are just out there trying to do well and make a name for themselves. You might even meet Dan Teague, he’s a good guy that was in the amateur pits out at Glen Helen that let us talk to him and get some pictures of his quads. Dan came all the way out to the track from Stillwater, Oklahoma to race his number 131 Honda 450. The people in the pits are out there for the love of the sport and if you don’t believe me, just talk to some of them. Besides, while you’re there you need to head over to the H-Bomb trailer to check out the crowd gathered around the girls. Not to mention, they had a sweet ramp set up too.
From here we begin the quest into the promised land of the pro-pits. Not only are the pro-pits a little more organized, but they are filled with all of the companies that you want to see. One of the first places that we ran across was the Duncan Racing trailer. You want to talk about dedicated; these guys were setting up shop at 7:00 am. Most of the other people weren’t even awake yet, and they were pulling out quads. While you walk around you will probably notice some of the quads of the pros. You might even get lucky enough to see a mechanic tearing into the motor of Tim Farr’s Honda 450. Suzuki made an appearance also, showing off the Z400 that Doug Gust races. Everybody from Kawasaki to Lonestar will be there with something to see, even if it is just a very nice trailer. As the day goes on you will see more people washing quads than after a muddy day at your local riding area. Some of the Ladies are even out getting ready to tear up the track. Whatever you do, don’t be afraid to poke around
and notice what others might not see. However, remember that this is someone else’s property so keep your hands to yourself. If you’re lucky you might catch Loren Duncan walking around or Jeremiah Jones getting ready to ride. When in doubt ask somebody if you can grab a wand and wash something, because it seems like everyone else is.
