Step 2, Protecting Yourself

Before you even think about going to the track you’re going to need the basics of protection. Assuming you already have and use them and only need to upgrade, here’s where to start - a D.O.T. approved helmet, goggles, gloves and boots. This may seem like a dreaded expense but it’s definitely the most necessary.

Once you’re at a shop trying on all that cool gear you may even start to understand why your girl friend likes shopping so much. Many shops offer huge discounts on last season’s left over gear and that can get you in business quick and inexpensively, and don’t forget, those cool sunglasses they may try and sell you don’t qualify as goggles.
