By the time practice was over it looked like the podium might be fair game this week. No one seemed to be having trouble with any particular section of the track and everyone was as fast as the track allowed. By Sunday most of the complaints about the track had been addressed and it looked like a battle was about to happen.
Back at the line for the first moto after the riders came back from their final pre-race laps things became silent. All the teams had one thing on their mind: beating Doug. If it was going to happen somewhere else this season, many thought it would be here. The gate fell and all eyes quickly turned to East Coast rider Dustin Wimmer who walked away with the holeshot and another East Coast rider John Natalie who was in a close second position.
