Soon after, John took over the lead and began walking away with things. Keith Little, Jeremiah Jones and Tim Farr were in line following Natalie fighting their own battle for second position. Shortly Jones was able to move past Little and Gust came from behind to overtake Farr.

As the race wound down Natalie continued to run away with things. Doug Gust was able to over take both Little and Wimmer but ran out of time as approaching Jones for second. At the checkers for moto 1 John Natalie finished first, followed by Jones, Gust, Wimmer and Little.
