Doug Gust: The man.
By: Ryan Webb
Back in May Racer450 Magazine set down with Doug while he was in the middle of this year's amazing winning streak. Doug continued to maintain the head of the pack and win the overall championship at round 10 in London, Kentucky. We congratulate Doug on the win. Once again we were lucky enough to sit down with Doug after the final race at Loretta Lynnís Dirt Days. Doug was more than happy to talk with us, and we were happy to let him have the last word. For those of you living under a rock and donít know, Doug is the 2004 GNC Motocross Champion at 37 years old. He hails from Salem, Wisconsin where he runs Digger Dougís Excavating. He is the oldest man out there and this year he is also the best. He takes to the line on a yellow Suzuki Z400 sporting the number 55. Doug is backed by team Suzuki/Yoshimura, and travels with a very impressive entourage including his girlfriend Cindi Hart, who also races in the womenís B-C class. Doug was very impressive at every race and has made a huge racing name for Suzuki the past couple years. This is what he had to say after the final race in Tennessee.
