R450: How many years have you been doing the riding school for?
Joe: This is my eleventh year of doing the riding school. I started with my first students in 1993. My first school I had three people in it and it lasted about five hours. As the years progressed, it got longer. Now it is two days about eighteen hours long. The more that I do it, the better it gets. Now I have two different schools. I have the standard school that I have been doing for years, and now I have started an advanced school. It’s a little more advanced, and it’s geared toward racers. I get to worry about honing previous skills and enjoy the weekend. I also get to hang out more with the racers.
Heather: We’ve taught a lot of champions. There are a lot of champions this year that have been through the school.
Joe: Out of the 815 riders that are here this weekend, there are about two hundred and some odd students that are racing. We’ve taught several thousand students so far and we have a really good time. Some of the guys in the pro class have been through the school. They beat me sometimes and that gets a little hard to swallow. They like to give me a hard time about it too.

R450: Joe, how many years have you been racing?
Joe: I’ve been racing since 1987.
R450: How did each of you like the track?
Joe: I like it. Actually, my track at home is laid out similar to this. The terrain is basically the same.
Heather: We train on the same track so I have a good idea what to expect. I like the track, but sometimes I struggle here. I may go out and win the first moto and just do badly in the second. Today Angela and I had a good race and she ended up beating me for the day. However, I got the Championship so it has still been a good weekend.
Joe: You got a 1-2 and I got a 2-1.
Heather: Yeah, it was just the opposite.
R450: Which track in the series is each of your favorite tracks.
Joe: That’s hard to say there are a lot of really good tracks. You have to factor in the promoters and what they do. Also, keep in mind how wide the track is. I usually like Loretta’s and Macon, Georgia and London. Those would probably be my three favorite tracks.
Heather: I like Loretta’s and Macon. Donnie Banks does a good job down in Macon with the track.
R450: If you each had to pick a least favorite track, which would it be?
Joe had to go talk to a few fans that wanted to get autographs and pictures.
Heather: For me it would probably be Glen Helen. Not necessarily the track, but the drive out there was bad. A thirty-hour drive at the beginning of the season was not what we were looking forward to.
