Daryl Rath, one of ATV’s most well known names was on hand for an interview with Racer 450 this year at Paducah, Kentucky’s ATVA TT National. We were lucky enough to check out Daryl’s factory sponsored Predators; self branded racing equipment and to spend some of the days’ down time with him and wife Jennifer. Sit back and get ready for the ride.
R450: So how did you start racing?
Daryl: I started racing 3-Wheelers, I’ll put a date on myself! It was an 84’ 200x. Back then it wasn’t motocross or TT it was kind of like the stadium style tracks. I’ve been at it straight, never quit.
R450: When did the deal with Polaris come about?
Daryl: I actually started working with the factory back in probably 98-99’, they wanted my opinion during the process of building a sport quad. I was involved during the development and during the testing of the “MULE” bikes.
R450: You’re racing the pro class so I take it you have the 450 kit on your predator. (Pro class has a 450cc displacement limit)
Daryl: Yes, the Polaris kit comes with a cylinder, head, piston, gaskets, CDI box and makes the engine legal for all 450cc ATVA classes.
R450: How involved has Polaris been with your racing efforts?
Daryl: They’ve supported me 100%. Bikes, salary, everything.
