R450: Is there anything you would like to see change that the organization (ATVA) can control?
Daryl: I would really like to see something like a pro level stock class. Back in 3-Wheeler days you change tires and that’s it. Just some safety changes as well.

R450: Trust us, we’ve brought it up to the ATVA before, we actually totally agree.
Daryl: I think people are missing the picture, this will force the manufactures to step up and it will equal out the riders.

R450: The ATVA doesn’t share our enthusiasm.

/ Daryl’s wife Jennifer joins the interview /

Jennifer: You’ve got the younger classes to consider as well; those kids are the next generation of Pros. Those kids are starting on ATVs that don’t have anything stock but now they will be expected to move to a production ATV as they grow up.

R450: So how involved are you with the racing business?
Jennifer: I haven’t missed a race in 7 years.

R450: Good for you, what’s your job title?
Jennifer: The wife, better known as “The Wife”. (laughs)

R450: Got any good stories, I mean about racing not about Daryl!

( Jennifer Laughs, Daryl smirks. )

Daryl: We have a lot of fun down in the Dominican. It is grass roots racing. We hauled the ATV to the track in a pickup, no tools or spare parts. Fuel in a milk jug. It’s amazing.

R450: Tell us about it.
Daryl: There about 40 riders but probably 2,500 spectators. It’s a party. We got pictures of people hanging in trees watching the race. Anything the people can get their hands on the love, autographs – old parts.

R450: What kind of ATVs do they run?
Daryl: Anything, there are aftermarket frames and everything we have here.

Jennifer: The people go so crazy it’s almost like going to a NASCAR race here.

Daryl: We do the race on Sunday; then on Monday we go into a TV studio and do a show that is almost like our Moto World. We’ve both been on it. They even show the whole race. It’s neat and they treat you great.

R450: So do they race for big money?
Daryl: Uh, I don’t know, I got a trophy. (funny expression)

Daryl: It’s a totally different world there guys.
