Moto 1 was shaping up to be a little bit of a mud race after the slow steady rain that had been falling all morning. Most of the track held together well in the rain, but some spots with little drainage had definitely become muddy. Everything started the same as usual with the Pros coming out and taking their sight lap. Everybody looked pretty good and seemed ready for the race. Once the gate dropped, they tore out towards Talladega.
Tim came out with the holeshot, but he was followed closely by Doug. Doug is always a threat so it was shaping up to be a great race from the start. Coming up close behind was Jeremiah. Everyone else fell into place throughout the rest of the race. Tim managed to keep a steady lead over Doug and Jeremiah held steady in third place. As they raced around the track, it was easy to see that Tim was the only racer who actually had a visible number plate.
The mud actually did play a part itself causing a couple of blown motors during the race. Jason Luburgh actually had to slow down and just cruise around the track, because his battery terminal came off. Tim held on and finished the race first with a good lead, Doug pulled out a strong second and Jeremiah held on for third. Everyone was waiting to see what would happen in moto 2, rain or shine
