Polaris and KTM Partner?
Could we possibly see a new Polaris 450cc race ATV? That future may not be so far away. Polaris announced recently that it has purchased 24.9% interest in KTM a fastly evolving motorcycle company who is currently building a highly competitive 450cc 4 stroke race engine for use in their own dirt bike. With updates to their Predator platform a KTM 450 engine would fit nicely and offer performance on par with the Yamaha YFZ450 and Honda TRX450R. Polaris seems optimistic about the future and were better to display that the enthusiasm than the ATV Nationals.
Another recent Polaris entry into the sport ATV market is Outlaw. A 500cc machine based on the Predator 500 featuring 4 wheel independent suspension. Like everyone, we are anxious to see where this goes. It could revolutionize the sport market and cure many problems plaguing ATV race design, or it could simply fall short. Will we be testing the new Outlaw any time soon? Most likely not. Have you ever tried to call Polaris? We just get the answering machine as well.
