Breaker Bar: Smith Intake Goggles
Racer 450 Magazine
Like any type of motorsports ATV racing requires serious eye protection if you want to do well and stay safe in the process. The ongoing struggle is to provide that protection with least amount of user interruption. Meaning, you want to be able to as clearly as possible, while having no worries about your eyes.
We tested Smithís Warp goggles a few seasons back and gave them a good review although there were things didnít like. The most major rant being the struggle of tear off installation, it was complicated and took a few tries to get it right. The Warp series was kind of big, good for vision, but hard to fit into some helmet openings. Not that we are trying to down the Warp, they are great goggles, itís just that Smith fixed all of these problems with the Intake.
The Intake is a sleek goggle that easily fits into small helmet openings like those with mud guards, has extra fat integrated tear off posts on the lens and is basically invisible to the eye while youíre riding. The Intake has a small but strong strap that doesnít move around like some other goggles do. Tear offs are easily installed and competitively priced as so are a wide range of lens options. The intake is offered in several color choices and is very reasonably priced in the professional goggle category.
Smith has made the Intake everything we always wanted from the Warp. If you are a Smith fan and you havenít tried the Intake, get ready to switch. After you use them once thatís all it takes.
